Why we stock what we stock

Insadong draws visitors looking for crafts and souvenirs. We chose a narrower lane: stationery you will use after the trip home. That means notebooks with paper that holds ink, cards with honest printing, and pens that refill instead of disappearing into landfill after a week.

We buy in small quantities so shelves stay readable. When a cover colour sells out, we wait for the next shipment rather than flooding the table with lookalikes. Staff keep a short handwritten list of what is coming so regulars can ask without hunting the whole room.

Gift wrapping happens at the same desk where we ring up sales. Kraft paper, tissue, and cotton ribbon are the default — no plastic glitter. If you need a note card slipped inside, we will write it while you wait, provided the queue is calm.

How the room is arranged

The front table holds everyday pens and washi under daylight. Taller shelves along the wall carry coloured stock paper and hardcover journals. A quieter corner near the bookshelves is for slower browsing — ink bottles, letterpress cards, and sealing wax.

We are not a warehouse. If you need twenty identical notebooks for an event, write to us a few days ahead; we can check remaining stock and suggest substitutes in the same paper weight.

Who we are for

Locals who keep a desk ritual, visitors who want a Seoul-made memory that is not a magnet, and anyone choosing a gift for a writer. We speak English and Korean at the counter. Questions about fountain-friendly paper are welcome — we would rather spend two minutes matching ink than send you home with feathered pages.
